The World's Largest Cruise Ship Arrives in Florida This Week: Legend of the Seas Makes Her U.S. Debut

If you love watching a brand-new mega-ship come home, clear a little space on your calendar this Saturday. Royal Caribbean's Legend of the Seas, the world's largest cruise ship, is crossing the Atlantic right now and is scheduled to arrive at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, November 7, 2026 — her first time in Florida, and the start of her first U.S. season.

Legend is the third ship in Royal Caribbean's Icon Class, the family that reset expectations for just how big and how packed a cruise ship can be. She measures 248,663 gross tons, carries 5,610 guests at double occupancy alongside 2,350 crew members, and is organized into eight distinct neighborhoods, so a ship this size still feels like a collection of smaller places to discover. She debuted this summer in Europe, where she spent her inaugural season sailing the Mediterranean — which makes this Florida arrival a genuine first for North American cruisers, not just a homecoming.

The schedule for her first days in Florida is a busy one. The ship will stay at Port Everglades for a full day while the crew clears customs. Then, on Sunday, November 8, she sails her maiden voyage from Florida: a short three-night cruise to The Bahamas, the perfect sampler for anyone who wants to say they were among the first Americans aboard. On November 11, she will be officially christened and named by her godmother, retired U.S. Air Force General Lori J. Robinson. After one more short Bahamas sailing, Legend settles into her winter rhythm — alternating six- and eight-night cruises to the Western and Southern Caribbean for the 2026–2027 season, with the Southern sailings reaching ports like Aruba and Curaçao.

So what is actually on board all that tonnage? Start with food: 28 dining options, 13 of them included in the fare, from the main dining room and two buffets to the five food stands at AquaDome Market, late-night pizza at Sorrento's, and 24-hour bites at the Pearl Café. Two specialty experiences are brand-new in spirit — Royal Railway – Legend Station, an immersive dinner journey inspired by the ancient Silk Routes, and the Hollywoodland Supper Club, a glamorous nod to Hollywood's golden age. There are 17 bars and lounges to work through, too.

For activities, the headline is Category 6, the largest waterpark at sea, plus a FlowRider surf simulator, rock climbing, mini golf, laser tag, ice skating, a carousel, seven pools, and ten hot tubs. Families with little ones get Surfside, a neighborhood built just for them, while adults can disappear to the Hideaway Pool, an infinity pool with a view. Entertainment runs from a stage production of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to AquaTheater and ice shows, live music in eight venues, and the Pearl — the giant kinetic art sculpture at the heart of the Royal Promenade.

What does this mean for your trip planning? If you have been curious about Icon Class but the first two ships' prices gave you pause, a third ship in Florida adds real capacity on six- and eight-night Caribbean routes this winter — more dates, more cabin categories, and sometimes softer pricing on the less obvious sailings. Short on vacation days? Those early three-night Bahamas cruises are a low-commitment way to test whether a mega-ship is your style before booking a full week. And if you are anywhere near Fort Lauderdale on Saturday morning, a ship this size arriving for the first time is a spectacle worth watching from shore.

Legend of the Seas spent her summer turning heads in Europe. This week, she becomes Florida's newest — and biggest — way to cruise the Caribbean.
